When a home has a high ceiling over the entry it can sometimes be large enough to gain a very useful new space. This was designed to be an enclosed home office, but with an egress window it is safe enough to sleep in too.

Turn your high ceiling into a new room. Perhaps you desire to move your laundry room to the second floor. This type of space is perfect for such home improvement projects. The square footage added counts towards the value of the home.

  On Tuesday October 8th, 2024, Chris Doering gave the first live, in-person presentation, at Keller Williams Irvine office talking about a program that encourages homeowners to "Flip Their Own Home". Realtors and agents were briefed on the basic logistics for high ceiling conversions. The TRULOFT converting-to-sell or convert-to-stay program raised a few eyebrows.

Judging by the type of questions and the follow-up after the meeting, there's already been properties being presented for evaluation.

This is a straight-forward project of converting a high cathedral style ceiling into a new mezzanine addition with a vaulted ceiling. The ceiling below in the living room and dining room have been normalized. The before and after pictures show how normal the first floor looks even when with one step down into the new loft addition above.

This is the request of the homeowner for this high ceiling conversion in Orange County, California. Please fill in my high ceiling with a new room. 

We will be converting this vaulted ceiling space into a new and much needed bedroom addition. While we are at it we're planning to relocate the existing laundry room to the second floor as well. Yes, the chimney is coming out to take full advantage of the square footage gained.

As you might geuss, the vaulted ceiling is high but not high enough. Therefore Truplans/Truadditions are planning to raise the roof on this space as well to maximize the headroom.

That is the question for this home in San Diego County in the community of Carmel Mountain Ranch. Therefore, our design tour video shows both options. One with full two-story side to side room addition verses doing a more economical dormer room. Both will used as a new bedroom addition.

We also showed the difference between keeping the fireplace wall downstairs or removing it to make an open concept living space on the first floor.
