Watch for the design imagery and interior design suggestions for this new room addition remodel being prepared in Rancho Cordova design build project.

A very tall ceiling starts to speak into the ears of a homeowner "convert me" when the space in the home seems to be diminishing with time. This is not what really happens, but the space seems to dwarf as time goes on and especially if kids are growing up and want more of their own space.

Sometimes families will find it necessary to welcome an aging parent back home and need the space. Either way, these high cathedral ceilings like those found in Rancho Cordova CA are ideal for an efficient room addition contractor.

What you see above is what is in this homes near future -- a large-scale remodel to the downstairs area. The existing courtyard is to be filled in, providing an immense amount of new livable space. 

You see the wall with the mirror? There used to be another wall between that and the kitchen counter. The kitchen went from claustrophobia to feeling airy and free!

Those windows and sliding doors seem pretty tall and grand, right? That is because we are removing the existing clerestory windows. The result is astounding -- increased function and natural light all-around! 

​We're still not done yet! This home is currently single story -- we're changing that, adding an open loft above. The wall openings and glass railing allow you to overlook the open-to-below area. In addition, this open loft will come with a fancy, new bathroom. 

This project is currently in the final stages of the design phase, with construction commencing very soon.

​Orange County Loft Addition Design by TRULOFT

After over twenty years of serving homeowners in the city of Aliso Viejo by converting tall empty ceiling spaces into new rooms the room addition requests just continue to keep coming in. When I, the Loft Dog, first started estimating and designing loft additions I thought maybe we'd be busy with this unique type of room addition for about ten years. I kinda thought the market would get saturated and that we would have filled in most of the homes by 2014. Boy was I wrong. It really does not cease to amaze me as to how many homes still have yet to be converted. 

Here's a new one that we have designed for our TruAdditions contracting partner. An open loft room under the vaulted ceiling space. I'm posting two images today, one is a virtual before shot and the other is the virtual after shot. These are easily produced from the same camera angle because we shoot the graphic in CAD (computer aided design) program/app.

We have yet another two-story room addition project in Aliso Viejo that has entered the design phase. The video here is part of a series called TRULOFT CONCEPTS. We like to show the homeowners what their house will transform into by shooting both existing and proposed imagery and then merging the transitions in video. You can see a lot more of a homes potential when the 3Ds are in motion. This remodeling project is aimed at turning the vaulted ceiling into a new living space.

A high ceiling conversion room addition in Mission Viejo, California that turned empty ceiling space into a new bedroom. These are known as retrofit room additions and are sometimes called loft additions even though the room being built is not technically a loft at all. Check out the before and after conversions in this before and after video.

Often times the larger loft additions seem to be the most complicated, but end up being the simplest to design and build. You might think that the smaller loft additions would be easier. Well, this is not always the case. In fact, the smaller the space the more challenging it can become. This model was designed several different ways and we finally ended up with a unique design that utilized the highest portion of the open ceiling space while leaving plenty of high ceiling space. This design video shows this particular model home in Irvine, California yet with a lot of high ceiling remaining undeveloped.

This is what we like to see - a high ceiling space over the living room. Your high ceiling doesn't have to be a massive open-to-below space for a loft addition. 

With the space looming above, there are quite a few possibilities to behold. In our client's case, they will be receiving a beautiful open loft! 

This means they will gain more livable space, without the hassle of building out and expanding the home's footprint. A high ceiling conversion also results in added overall square footage of the home, increasing the home's value - a good factor to consider if you're planning to move further down the line!

Oceanside Project – Major New Updates!

We have some exciting new updates for our Oceanside high ceiling conversion project!

Our newest TRULOFT CONCEPTS episode is now live, showcasing the full design proposal for this home. In the video, we walk through a number of major improvements, including:

• A new bedroom with a closet and bathroom
• A new laundry room next to the new bedroom
• An extended corner in the existing hallway bathroom
• Modified closets in two bedrooms - shortened horizontally, but upgraded into walk-in closets
• A normalized ceiling below the new addition

Along with the episode, we’ve added (29) new 3D design images to the project slideshow. Many appear in the video, while others are exclusive to the gallery for a deeper look at the design details.

We’ve also uploaded (4) existing and (4) 3D Design 360° images. These immersive views help you feel the current layout of the home and truly visualize the scale of the new bedroom addition and the spaces being reimagined.

We can’t wait to begin construction and bring these designs to life. This home is already beautiful, and it’s about to get even better. Once completed, you can expect some incredible aftershots!

Exciting updates for one of our high ceiling conversion projects! 

We have uploaded 3D Design images of our latest project in San Jose. These images demonstrate what we do - convert unused high ceiling space into cozy, functional rooms. In this case, we're turning that vacancy into a new open bonus room! 

Down in the first floor, we went ahead and got rid of the fireplace and inserted some wall niches. This way, our client can put some sentimental knick-knacks or high-class art there. Other than that, it's the usual new normalized ceiling!
