High ceiling conversion by the best in the industry.
Mission Viejo, California. Loft addition over entryway appears narrow. This high ceiling conversion shows how you should never under estimate the amount of living space that is hovering over your head. At first glance in the "before" picture, this hallway appears quite narrow. However, after the conversion, the use of space is highly functional as a home office within a mini home library. The ceiling was kept higher over the entry by having a few steps up to the new functional space. BEFOREAFTERCorona, California Truplans 3D design process is for every project. Curved stairwells are a specialty in our design. Sometimes we need to create corners, angles and straight lines, and other times we find that curving the new loft addition is needed to optimize the design. Here's a few pictures of one of our curved floor system designs. This high ceiling conversion was in Newport Beach, California. BEFOREAFTER SHOTSTrabuco Canyon, California High ceiling over entryway was converted to a loft addition/office. Never under estimate how a very small space can make a big difference. The space was custom crafted and is highly functional as a new home office. The loft features a curved low wall with a rail cap. BEFOREAFTERBEFOREAFTERAFTEREven a ceiling that is not fully two stories high all the way around can become useful space. These are called vaulted ceilings. A vaulted ceiling can be converted to new inhabitable living space. There are specific building code requirements that need to be considered especially related to minimum ceiling heights. This project in Northridge, California shows before and after views. BEFOREAFTER Many of the high ceiling conversation you see on our sites and in our galleries are large volume ceilings. What about houses with vaulted ceilings? Can a loft addition be built under the sloped roof? Actually, yes they can. Many times the ceiling is high enough even at the lowest end to be able to create a function room. However, when the ceiling is too low a feature can be added that won't necessarily break the bank. It's called a dormer. The combination of a loft addition with a dormer can be an affordable solution to gaining more functional living space under that angled ceiling line. On the outside we raise a portion of the roof to "pop up" with either a new gable or shed style roof. This gives you full height ceilings out to the new windows. This is what is looks like on the inside. Without the dormer this loft would not be as light or large. You can see the old ceiling line on the flanks. Adding a dormer built in combination with the high ceiling conversion (loft addition) can be a great solution when the vaulted ceiling line is just not giving you the head room and space you desire.
