Sometimes a little space is all you need. This mini loft addition was designed to only cover the entry way leaving most of the high ceiling over the living room and dining room. The low wall was designed instead of open railing to hide the office furnishings from view.

The wasted space lingering over your head can be converted into just about any type of room you need. A dormer addition is typically a loft addition within a vaulted ceiling space where we open up a small portion of the roof to create a raised ceiling and new window opening. This is the case with this project in Tustin, California. The high ceiling is to be converted to a new bedroom, but the existing ceiling is not high enough to qualify as a new bedroom.  The dormer addition will solve this requirement.

The high ceiling was converted into a nice loft addition with open railing above as well as a new coffer ceiling below.
