New Bedroom & Bathroom Coming Soon!
San Jose, CA
Santa Clara County
High Ceiling Conversion
This high ceiling is about to be transformed in a big way! As you can see, there is a lot of vacant space above the living room.
The home currently has three bedrooms including a master bedroom. That being said, this family is still finding themselves needing more room. The homeowners reached out to us expressing an interest in our high ceiling conversion expertise, wanting to add some much needed real estate above.
The main star of the show will be a new bedroom addition, built right above their existing living room! Many of our clients are interested in a new bedroom, because our high ceiling conversion model benefits the growing family demographic the most.
Of course, with a new bedroom, the next question would be if a bathroom is included. While not part of the initial scope-of-work, both our expert evaluator and the homeowner concluded that a bathroom addition just makes sense.
Access to both the new bedroom and bathroom would be the next question. The existing steps - specifically around the landing area - will be remodeled, providing a new point of entry to both rooms.
Our architectural design team is hard at work designing this remodel, which will turn out absolutely brilliant. We will update this gallery as updates are provided, so stay tuned!

TRULOFT CONCEPTS 1535 - New Loft, Bathroom & Bedroom
We have to give a big thank-you to our expert design team for making this video possible. This particular loft addition design can be quite tricky to convey in words, or even in a sketch. Taking advantage of videos and the ability to walk through a 3D space, the idea becomes crystal clear.
The existing stairs will be extended towards the front entrance. At the end of this extension is an entry point for the new loft. Whether this new loft space will serve as a media center or not, gained space is gained space!
From there, access to the other new rooms is straightforward. Walking from the open loft and to the right is a new bathroom. The bathroom was not part of the initial scope-of-work, but it was deemed possible, and more importantly, sensible. With a new bedroom, a frequent question is whether a new bathroom is also in the picture.
Proceeding onwards from the bathroom is a new bedroom. There are two design options to be picked from here - one with a notched wall, and one with the room partially extending over the open air above the steps. The second option allows for increased space in the bedroom, which will make it feel much less cramped. Regardless, both options come with a closet.
We can't forget about the downstairs, too! As usual, a high ceiling conversion results in a new normalized ceiling below. In tandem with the recessed lights and closer reflective surface to the ground, the result is a living room that is much brighter and warm! Behind the stairs is another design option in the form of a storage closet. While the homeowner is likely not to go with this option, we still felt it wouldn't hurt to at least show what it would look like.
This project is nearing the final stages of the design process. We can't wait to begin construction - turning these loft remodel ideas into reality! Stay tuned, because this is going to be a good one!

Santa Clara County
San Jose general contractor TRUADDITIONS completed this project in less than 2 weeks once the permit was approved. Sometimes shifting the function of the space you have can lead to simply more room. The existing open loft in the second floor was a perfect conversion to gain a new bedroom. The loft space was then regained by filling in the open-to-below area over the front portion of the living room and entry.
