What Kind of Humanity Is This?
Throughout your entire lifetime you might meet a small handful of people who truly influence your human condition and impact your remaining years. Sometimes they are leaders of nations or of great movements in history. Others are exceptional teachers or book writers sharing their keen insights and wisdom. It is very rare to meet such people and even rarer still to be able to work with them side by side. This is the level of a refined humanity we experienced in working with John David Friesen. Everyone at the office knew him as "Brother Dave" because he is our dear brother in Christ Jesus. It was with a very heavy heart in late June of this year, 2023, when we all received the news that our dear brother Dave had passed away to be with the Lord. Brother Dave was much more than we ever could have imagined or hoped for in a business partner. Our working relationship with him transcended all business normality and crossed over into the extraordinary and many times into the realm of the miraculous. He was truly a gift to us all from the sovereign God Who worked through our brother's life to conduct the Lord's business. He was an ambassador of Christ both to our businesses and to our families. |
The Entrepreneurial General Contractor
From our perspective Dave Friesen's business dealings with us were not normal with respect to how the business world typically works, as we never could imagine a direct business competitor becoming such a blessing to our own growth and expansion. You heard it right. For about 12 years Dave Friesen ran a brand that was our direct competitor of our loft addition business based in Orange County, California. In fact, he was the original founder or our rival brand The Loftcrafters Inc also known as TLC (standing for The Loft Crafters) based in Irvine, California. For many years we co-existed offering Southern California residents two excellent company choices for converting high ceilings into new rooms. The now Truloft brand and The Loftcrafters Inc. were the two "go-to" companies for getting high quality and competitively priced high ceiling room conversions.
In a unique turn of events, brother Dave, after having left The Loftcrafters Inc came on board with Truplans Inc and TruAdditions Corp (the planners and builders respectively of the TRULOFT addition brand). By 2016, Dave Friesen was a full partner and one of the principal owners in our loft addition business managed by Truplans. Under his consulting and direct construction management we began to expand our loft addition brand across the entire state of California. When brother Dave went to be with the Lord we had active loft addition projects spanning from Sacramento in the north to Chula Vista in the south. We were even advertising our brand in his hometown of Santa Maria.

He Launched A Lofty Enterprise By Humbled Means
Today, the entire network of loft addition enterprises including Truloft by Truplans Inc, Truadditions Corp (Rene De Leon and crews) and CALOFT (by Aaron and Luis) are planning to expand across multiple state borders under the TRULOFT brand name. The original entrepreneurial venture of retrofitting high ceilings into new rooms started by Dave Friesen, once our competitor, became the catalyst for a much larger niche planning and construction enterprise. An enterprise whose top experts were all trained and mentored by John David Friesen.
Our industry, our businesses and our families remember brother Dave for all that he has done, unselfishly caring for each of us especially in times of great need. Our enterprises and everyone in them remember brother Dave Friesen like a father. |
