Loft Additions & Coffer Ceilings

When you build a loft addition in your high ceiling you have the opportunity to simultaneously redesign the room below with a decorative ceiling feature. Coffered ceilings are sometimes referred to as tray ceilings. They can be designed with a variety of different shapes and features. Rectangular, octagon, square, even oval. Most of the time we line the inside perimeter with crown molding, but sometimes we leave it with drywall only. Faux wood beams add an architectural touch giving the new ceiling a very custom look. Painting the inside of the coffer a different color can also create an amazing effect.
