Big, BIG upgrades are coming soon for this Mission Viejo home:
The existing kitchen area will be greatly expanded upon. By extending the wall facing the backyard outwards, as well as removing the wall separating the kitchen and living room, we get a MASSIVE OPEN CONCEPT KITCHEN! Towards the back of the kitchen, you will find a new dirty kitchen. This will be achieved by expanding further into the unused garage space.
We're not even done with the kitchen area yet! The existing hallway connecting the kitchen to the existing office will be modified. As you can see, murphy doors hide a fun little secret - a whole new mud room, providing a cozy connection between the garage and kitchen. This also results in the existing office being closed off, providing additional wall real-estate for bookshelves and such. The office is still open via entry near the front door.
Across from the office is a bedroom that is just waiting to be repurposed. As it stands right now, there is a tight hallway that provides the only entry into the bedroom. This little area is going to be transformed into a new sitting room. Closing up the existing entryway, like the office, will provide extra wall space. Meanwhile, a new arched entryway will be inserted, resulting in a comfy sitting area.
While this sounds like a lot already, we are STILL not done! We haven't even mentioned the upstairs yet.
There is a small open-to-below space looming over the living room. By expanding into this negative space, the master bedroom will gain an elegant, spacious walk-in closet.
As a result of the backwall being expanded in the downstairs, we gain more real estate upstairs as well! This means we can greatly enhance this homeowners existing bathroom. To the left of the bathroom will reside a stylish new wet room. Traveling beyond that, the end of the hallway sports a whole new sauna, providing a sanctuary of relaxation after a long, arduous day!
