This home is shaping up to be one of those "best of both worlds" remodeling projects!

When most people think of a high ceiling conversion, they assume that the entire open-to-below space needs to be filled in. That's definitely not the case. Some of our favorite projects are the ones that preserve portions of the home's soaring ceilings while still adding a significant amount of functional living space.

The high ceiling spaces above the dining area and entryway are being converted as part of the remodel, while the dramatic high ceiling above the living room will remain untouched. The result? The homeowners get to keep that bright, open, and airy feeling in one of the home's main gathering spaces while gaining valuable square footage elsewhere.

The primary goal of this renovation is to expand one of the home's existing bedrooms for this growing family. By utilizing the unused space above the dining room and entryway, we're able to create a substantial bedroom extension without building outward or giving up any backyard space.

Of course, once you start adding this much square footage, some exciting possibilities begin to emerge. We're also exploring options for incorporating a dedicated home office or even a family room into the final design. With this much available space, there's plenty of flexibility to create something truly special.

This project is a great example of why we love high ceiling conversions so much. You don't always have to choose between preserving your home's openness and adding more living space. Sometimes, you can have both.
